## Letter 13 — Beesenlaublingen, November 14, 1880 One historical translation page compared. **Agreement:** Carl writes to an uncle about his father's death after a stroke on May 28. He had difficulty finding the addresses; his mother remained in Poplitz nearby. He calls himself the second son, aged thirty-one, with three children. These details fit the previous family account. **New supporting attribution:** The historical annotation explicitly identifies Carl as Friedrich's son and David as Friedrich's brother and Carl's uncle. This strengthens the family identification beyond inference from adjoining letters, but it remains an annotation: the body does not give the father's first name. The spelling Carl is supported; Karl in another letter is not by itself a different person. **Limits:** The stroke date is not automatically the exact death date. May 28 probably belongs to 1880, but the interval to death is not securely supplied. The old version's description of papers kept locked away helps explain the missing addresses; the precise manuscript wording remains less certain. Nothing here establishes August's fate.
